The aged care industry has seen a dramatic rise in the number of workers and facilities in recent years. In 2016, there were over 3.25 million aged care workers employed in Australia, marking a 2.6% increase from the previous year and an 11.5% increase since 2012.

The number of aged care facilities has also grown significantly over recent years, for example with the NDIS provider in Cairns expanding in 2020. This NDIS provider offers a range of services to the elderly, including home and community-based care, residential aged care, and emergency supports. With this expansion comes a larger number of jobs available to those in the aged care industry, as well as a greater capacity to provide quality care for those in need.

This growing trend in the aged care industry and considering the fact, that the majority of these workers were female (76.6%), and their median age was 43 years old highlights the need for more employees to cater for the increased demand for care. This is a great opportunity for those looking to help make a difference.

The starting point for this career is always learning. With aged care training in SA, workers can learn the necessary skills and knowledge that they need to provide quality aged care. This also applies to the other states of Australia.

The career chances in aged care are vast. From community care workers to medical practitioners, there are a variety of career paths available. With the right qualifications and experience, there is potential for career advancement and career satisfaction in this field. So if you’re looking for a career that provides both job stability and the ability to make a difference, aged care could be the career for you.

Overall, the growth in Australia’s aged care industry over recent years has opened the door to career chances for those interested in helping others. With the right qualifications and experience, you could make a career out of providing quality aged care.
