The pickup truck is a staple of American culture. So, becoming America’s favorite pickup truck is quite a difficult honor to achieve. However, the Ford F150 has managed to earn that right. It is the most sold vehicle in the history of America, despite being a full-sized pickup truck.
The current generation of the F150 came out a couple of months ago. It received a lot of praise from critics as being a worthy contender to the Ram 1500. Ford is finally releasing the electric version of the truck – the F150 Lightning. This is the first ever Ford EV truck in the company’s rich history.
The review of the overbooked F150 Lighting is done below:
2022 Ford F150 Lightning Features
Powertrain and Numbers
The F150 Lightning offers you two powertrains. The first one is a 98kWh battery pack and motor setup that produces 452 horsepower. If you want something more powerful then you can get the 131kWh battery setup. This produces around 580 horsepower.
Those were the two different horsepower variations. As far as the torque is concerned, both the setups provide you with at least 775 lb-ft. This is a good figure for an electric truck. Also, the power and torque are sent to all 4 wheels. The Lightning is super quick at 4.5 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.
The range on these trucks varies based on the battery pack and the trim you choose. The basic truck will provide you with 230 miles. The extended range is around 320 miles. Meanwhile the top trim will give you a range of 300 miles. These are decent numbers when you look at the size of the truck.
Now that was the fuel economy, which most truck buyers don’t even look at. So, how much of a pickup truck is it exactly? Well, the maximum payload that you can manage on this truck is around 2235 lbs., the towing capacity is maxed out at 10k lbs.
Meanwhile at https://sts‑global.com/car‑parts you can always find reliable supply of wide selection of 4-wheel drive parts and accessories for any truck.
Interior and Technology
Obviously, the F150 Lightning has a cabin that has been designed to not just look good, but also for practicality. It is very spacious as well, being able to provide the passengers with enough headroom and legroom. If you want complete plushness, then you should get the leather seats.
So, what’s the equipment available? Well, there’s an 8-inch infotainment screen, plus a camera to look behind you. The optional extras are also no slouches. For instance, there are heated and cooled seats available. The number of speakers varies from 8 to 18. There’s satnav, wireless charging, etc.
You’ll be glad to know that there are also several safety features available. You get to have automated emergency braking and forward collision warning alerts. The basic safety stuff on the truck includes sensors and airbags – these prevent collisions and save the occupants in case one happens, respectively.
Exterior and Driving
If you’ve observed the exterior of the current F150, you’ll notice the changes they’ve made to it. It is a truck that shows everyone who’s large and in charge. The lightning gets the same shape but with some add-ons.
You’ll easily be able to tell the difference between a regular F150 and a Lightning model. In the latter, the LED lights extend throughout the width of the truck. The other major difference is in the truck’s grille.
The F150 is quick with good handling. However, the Lightning deserves its name tag as it is even quicker and more agile to drive. Despite being such a huge truck, it is quite light to drive around in.
Price and Warranty
Now we know how well the regular F150 truck is priced at the base model. The Lightning on the other hand is a lot more expensive. The truck starts out at around $39k and the amount becomes more than double that once you get to the top trim.
We’re waiting for more official info here. Ford will cover you for the first 3 yrs./36k miles after you start driving it. Then there’s the powertrain warrant, which will take care of you 5 yrs./60k miles, whichever is achieved first. Of course, for the electrical components, you’ll get a separate 8 yrs/100k miles.
The F150 Lightning is overbooked. Now, it’s not perfect but it is splendid. It clearly seems like Ford is appealing to young kids at this point. The truck is quick, has a decent range, and it has a lot of safety offerings. The only downside to this is the price but you do get $7500 in tax credit.
