Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone might be pushed back several more years.
Dubbed the ‘iPhone Flip’, Apple’s foray into the foldable phone niche seems to be delayed. Before, it was believed that it would launch in 2021; however, analysts say that a release date of 2023 at the earliest was more realistic.
Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO and analyst Ross Young said that the iPhone Flip will most likely have a debut of somewhere around 2025, with several factors such as global chip shortage and sluggish movement due to the ongoing pandemic affecting production and mobile development.
Once Apple arrives, it will face already-existing competition in the form of a folding Google Pixel, the Motorola Razr and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold. There are other companies looking to join as well, including Microsoft and its Surface Duo.
Apple has not revealed details about the iPhone Flip yet, but the Cupertino-based company might when the product launch is imminent.
