Video content giant YouTube is set to introduce creator tools to help its users expand their monetization options.
YouTube announced its plans to integrate NFTs, or non fungible tokens into its service. Neal Mohan, CPO of YouTube said in a blog post that the added creator tools will include the ability to create and sell these digital assets.
Mohan mentioned that new technologies such as NFTs and blockchain allow content creators to establish deeper relationships with viewers. Furthermore, the CPO stated that collaboration can be done via projects and ways that were not possible before.
The creator tools will present a ‘verifiable way’ for viewers to own art, photos, videos and even experiences from their favorite content creators. The company did not say how NFT ownership would work and if it would have copyright law conflicts, as buying the asset will require a public record for the transaction but doesn’t transfer copyright from owner to buyer.
