Information About Tina: The Tina Turner Musical
With the cast all assigned their roles and performing stepping onto the stage at the Aldwych Theatre, you can start planning your day trip to the West End to see what all the fuss is about.
The story follows Tina Turner’s life, from her modest early years to the point where she became a global superstar. Tina, whose real name was Anna Mae Bullock, had a difficult childhood in Tennessee until her grandmother, who raised her, urged her to sing in Memphis for a shot at glory and ultimately live in St. Louis. It’s in St. Louis where she meets Ike Turner and the ‘Queen of Rock‘n’Roll’ is born.
Phyllida Lloyds, the Director of this performance, has already received rave reviews. Katori Hall, the prestigious Pulitzer Prize winner, has written the musical alongside Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. The show began in London in 2018, at the same theatre it still calls home today; since then, the show has gone worldwide, including in the USA, Australia, and Germany, with eight different productions.
Tina: The Tina Turner Musical has amassed twelve Tony nominations, with Best Musical among them, proving its worth against some of the most renowned theatre titles anywhere.
